Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has warned the federal government that the $1.07 billion allocated to the health sector in the 2025 budget should not be misused. Atiku in a statement in Abuja asked that mechanisms must be put in place to ensure the funds are used to improve healthcare services rather than vanish under suspicious circumstances. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the last election noted that claims that animals such as snakes, termites, and monkeys were responsible for the disappearance of public funds should not befall the allocation to the health sector. He also called for a transparent and accountable framework to track how the allocated money is spent for the benefit of the people. Police confirm dismissal of 3 officers in Abia over kidnapping, extortion.

Three policemen serving at the Abia State police command have been dismissed over alleged extortion and abduction of unsuspecting victims along the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway. Vanguard gathered that the 3 policemen and two civilians were arrested by policemen from the Abayi Division,Aba, after they were found armed with an electric baton, assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol. They allegedly hired a minibus, abducted some civilians along the expressway, threatened and demanded money from their families for their release. One Person Shot As Land Dispute Escalates Between Delta Communities

A chaotic situation and an alleged shooting occurred between the Sapele Okpe community in Sapele Local Government Area and the Abigborodo community in Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, due to a land dispute. Fire Destroys Students Hostel At Nigerian Law School in Kano

A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday night at the students' hostel of the Nigerian Law School Kano Campus, leaving students with significant losses. Reports claimed the fire razed the hostel building to the ground and destroyed students’ valuable properties, including clothes, credentials, and electronic gadgets such as laptops.  Students and staff were evacuated from the premises, and no casualties were reported.  However, the fire has caused distress among many students, with some losing critical equipment for their study just 14 days before their final bar examination.
